Olympic fencing extraordinaire Monica Aksamit took Gold in the 2020 Charlotte NAC SWS event this past weekend, her first major tournament of 2020.  Aksamit was patient in a hard fought match against Ola Shelton; ecstatic with her final point, taking the match 15-9.   

"Honestly, I’m still in disbelief. Sure I’ve been working tirelessly towards this goal, but after my recent disappointments on the piste, I started to think maybe it was impossible. First tournament of 2020 was a HUGE success and I have all of you to thank, " said a clearly elated Aksamit in an Instagram post to her 100k+ following.
