Alexander Wins Ironman 70.3 Liuzhou
5x Ironman and 70.3 World Champion Craig Alexander is off to a great 25th season as one of the top professional triathletes of all time, showing absolutely no sign of slowing down anytime soon. The 45 year old Australian lined up against some of Asia Pac's top athletes at the Ironman Liuzhou 70.3, a race where Alexander found the podium in 2018 against the 2x Olympic Gold Medalist. Ironman races are always challenging but they require a bit more mental strength when the weather doesn't cooperate and the 2019 Liuzhou 70.3 brought the sideways rain and wind all day long. With a 5th position out of the water, Alexander wasted no time catching up on the bike and surged ahead leading into T2 with the fastest split of the day (2:06:55). In true Crowie style, he executed his trademark run and took home the win with a 1:13 (race best) split that added yet another title to the Medal of Order recipient's trophy room back in Sydney. Agnieszka Jerzyk of Poland won the women's race. Next up for Alexander is a pair of April races in Busselton Australia and the Asia Pac Ironman 70.3 Champs in Vietnam.
