5x Ironman and 70.3 World Champion Craig Alexander chose the year # 45 to come out swinging as his streak of Ironman 70.3 continues to roar past athletes half his age.  A race venue Crowie is familiar with, the Busselton 70.3 always attracts a decent field of male pros from Australia's east side.  Rough swim conditions took its toll on the neat 45 year old Alexander, exiting in 6th place out of the water, yet the bike was a different story.  The highly strategic World Champ posted a 2:04:40 bike split to bring the lead within 42 seconds at T2.  Alexander, who doesn't seem to lose any of that infamous run speed and biomechanical beauty as he ages, blasted a 1:15 run to close down the win with 1:20 over Mike Phillips of New Zealand.  

"Really happy with my race today," Alexander penned on Facebook. "Pushed all the way in tough conditions by Big @mikephillipsnz @mattburton_01 and @maxxyneumann. Mike had some stomach issues on the run, which opened the door for me. The race doubled as the Australian Long Course Championships, so I was pumped to take the title nearly 20 years after winning it for the first time. Well done to everyone who raced, that wind was tough!"

Bussleton marks Alexander the Great's 5th race this year, including a win in China 70.3 and a runner up in Davao 70.3.  Next up is Vietnam 70.3
