Phillips Runner up at Ironman New Zealand
Kiwi Ironman Champion Mike Phillips found yet another podium and yet another Ironman New Zealand. A former winner and silver medalist, Phillips knows his home country's Ironman course quite well, as evidenced by his consistent performances in Taupo. In the 2021 edition of Ironman New Zealand, Phillips exited the water in the front pack and put on the days strongest bike split (4:23:29) before hanging on to the day's fastest and most dominating run by race winner Braden Currie. Phillips finished a respectable 2nd place, down 9:26 to the top podium.
