Tim Don Wins Patagonman
In one of the most challenging triathlon events on the planet, classified as an Xtreme Tri (Xtri), 3x Olympian and 4x World Champion Tim Don took the crown at the 2nd annual running of the Patagonman. With a 5:30 am start time, swimmer are taken out in a Ferry boat accompanied by the Chilean Navy to the cold waters of the Aysen Fjord, with water temperatures of 10 degrees celsius. It's so dark, the swimmer are accompanies by a lit buoy and this year, 8 athletes didn't make it (dropped out...not the other type of not making it!). The bike and run course offer some of the most spectacular scenery of any endurance event on earth, even dubbed by some photographers, 'the most beautiful run in the world'. The Don took the overall win in 9 hours and 32 minutes, which is incredibly impressive given the tough conditions of this mighty race course. In 2018, HIG's Mauricio Mendez of Mexico won the race in just under 9 hrs.
